| Might as well get one of the more bonkers (and nerdiest) theories for
what Star Wars 7 has in store right at the start. So, one guy on the
internet apparently blew everybody’s mind
with the idea that perhaps all of the Empire’s might – the various
Death Stars, Stormtroopers, Star Destroyers and the like – weren’t
simply a show of power, a way to crush the Rebel Alliance beneath their
boot heels. No, the whole thing was preparation for the Yuuzhan Vong Invasion that would happen about a quarter century after Return Of The Jedi ended. A quarter of a century, you say? So…roughly twenty-five years? And The Force Awakens is supposed to be set thirty years after the last Star Wars film? Interesting, interesting… For those unfamiliar – ie everyone – the Yuuzhan Vong are a warlike species who have long since fled the destruction of their own galaxy, choosing instead to invade the Outer Rim in a bunch of Expanded Universe books and comics. None of that is canon any more, meaning JJ could do a whole new spin on them. Or something. |
